  • 9 April 1965, Attack on Indian board (Ardar Post, Chhar Bet and Beria Bet) by Pakistan make Indian government to construct BSF for security by Lal Bahadur Shastri.
  • Khusro Faramurz Rustamji, better known as K F Rustamji is the first Director General of BSF (He is the only police officer in India thus far to have been awarded the Padma Vibhushan)
  • The BSF played a important role in the Indo-Pak War in the year 1971 and in the Freedom of Bangladesh.
