Ayush : Ayurvedic, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy
The Ministry of Ayush was designed on the 9th of November 2014 with a dream of reviving the thoughtful knowledge of our ancient systems of medicine and ensuring the best development and propagation of the Ayush systems of healthcare.
Previous, the Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy (ISM&H) formed in year 1995, was accountable for the development of these systems.
It was then retitled as the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (Ayush) in November 2003 with focused attention for education and research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy.
Objectives of Ayush
- To advancement the educational standard of the Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy colleges in the nation.
- To support existing research institutions and to confirm time-bound research programmes on recognized diseases for which these systems have an effective treatment and dealing.
- To devise plans for cultivating, promoting, and replenishing therapeutic plants employed in these systems.
- To grow Pharmacopoeial standards of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy drugs.
