  • On the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, Indian businessman G.D. Birla and Purshottamdas Thakurdas founded the organization in 1927. It is India’s largest, oldest, and most powerful business organization.
  • It is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation. It is established with members from the commercial and public sectors, including SMEs and multinational corporations.
  • Headquartered: New Delhi 
  • It has an existence in 12 states in India and 8 countries around the world.
