9 April 1965, Attack on Indian board (Ardar Post, Chhar Bet and Beria Bet) by Pakistan make Indian government to construct BSF for security by Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Khusro Faramurz Rustamji, better known as K F Rustamji is the first Director General of BSF (He is the only police officer in India thus far to have been awarded the Padma Vibhushan)
The BSF played a important role in the Indo-Pak War in the year 1971 and in the Freedom of Bangladesh.
