The Federal Bureau of Investigation is known as the FBI. It was established as a government organization under the United States Department of Justice on July 26, 1908.
In 1908, it was founded under the name Bureau of Investigation, but in 1935, it was renamed Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI director is appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate.
